CD/DVD pre load

Hi,
I see Radiant Viewer has some functionality pre loading DVDs but I´ve find it to be not enough.. let me explain my own scenario...
I usually receive a DVD with 4 to 6 MSCT studies with 3 series each with about 100 images each and one with about 1000 images. all 512 x 512 non compressed DICOM.
Radiant viewer loads (to memory?) each series when I open it but every time I change to another series CD/DVD reading starts again and scrolling the stack of images becomes jumpy and annoying..
I´ve fixed this using DVDIdle ( links are not allowed but it is easy to find ) it is a paid software (using the trial now) I did configure it to pre load to Hard Drive and added Radiant to its program list, It has to be runed before running Radiant. This works!!!
But I´d like Radiant to do something like this itself,, as preloading ALL the images in the disk from the begining (in seccond plane not as KPacs do) and keep this "temporal" until media is ejected..
ANd save me to be experimenting with 3rd party software..

Again
Thanks for Radiant!!!!!

Titox,

What system (xp,7,8; 32 or 64bit) and how much RAM do you have in your computer?
RadiAnt has some caching functionality implemented already. Perhaps some tweaking would help here. Let me know the PC parameters and we'll test your scenario.

Greetings,
Maciej

Hi,
I Run windows 7 ultimate, 8Gb Ram on an AMD Phenom II x6 1090T.
I think should be enough.
problem is changing between big series. it seems to not load them until you ask the series (so you have to wait if it is a 1000 images series) and that cached images are flushed/discarded if you change to another series and then it has to reload them if you go back to the previously seen series, it is not cached anymore?...

your caching algorithm may work for almost anybody in a conservative way of memory and/or disk space. perhaps you just can add the option to a more aggressive/disk consuming caching algorithm as creating a hole CD/DVD temporal mirror in the hard drive.. I am guessing with all this..
Thanks again for Radiant Viewer..

This would save a lot of batteries when using a laptop I guess too

Thank you for your reply. We will check this issue and see what can be done to further improve CD/DVD reading speeds.
