RadiAnt DICOM Viewer 1.99.18 BETA - with PACS client feature

May 21, 2014 08:35 PM
by RadiAnt
We are happy to announce that the new BETA version, with the "search & download studies from PACS servers" feature, will be very soon available for public download.
It took some time, but hopefully it was worth waiting :-)

Here's a short video showing basic configuration of PACS locations, searching and downloading studies:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eUsR13kon0

The link to the beta version will follow shortly.

Congratulations for this great development.

Thank you :-)

There are still a few issues that need to be resolved before the official version is released - e.g. currently you can display only one RadiAnt window, there is no way to run multiple instances of the program. We will also add some command-line parameters to automatically download specific studies (by studyUID/accession number/etc.) for integration with other systems.

Keep up the good work. Great, fast and lighweight viewer. The ability to query/retrieve from other DICOM nodes is great.

It appears there is no local caching/storage of the studies that are downloaded from a remote server. First in, first out type of scenario. Is this the continued direction for the viewer as you progress?
May 23, 2014 05:27 PM
by RadiAnt
Thanks, Shawn.

You're right, only the most recently downloaded study (or studies), visible in RadiAnt is kept in local cache. We will stick to this behavior in the basic edition of the viewer. The next stage will be the development of a database module that will serve as the local archive of studies, this will be the first feature that will differentiate the advanced edition of RadiAnt.

In my opinion, "zero footprint" Radiant feature is a great advantage of recent release nowadays, by adding local archive option as a default setting there is a risk the app would be storing a lot of "one-time-read" studies in the time, which may couse to slowing down an overall performance of the app.
On the other hand, having a local database will open a lot of posibilities, like prefetching studies according to actual MWL. Anyway, great job up to now, gentlemen!
Greetings!

Dear Radiant Developers,

I have tried all beta versions of Radiant with PACS client feature.. But I couldn't manage to query mr or ct..

I have got eFilm installed on my computer, and it works fine..
Of course I did all PACS settings (on my computer and work station)..

Is there any possibility, that eFilm can prevent Radiant from normal working?

Thanks..

Alex,

If you have set in RadiAnt the same listening port as in eFilm, then RadiAnt is not able to start listening on the same port until eFilm process is stopped/killed. However, you should still be able to search your MR/CT and view the list of patients.

Same problem like Alex.
From Administrative tools/ local services/ I stopped eFilms process, and it's work.
Great job.
Can you implement an enhancing(sharpness)function ? -important to study lung tissue and pulmonary parenchima.
Once again, womderful job and many thanks.

Tibe,

Thanks for the compliments!
Image filters are planned somewhere down the road ;-)

Best DICOM viewer I've yet seen!

It certainly is great to be able to link up the different image series. I can now relate the localiser to my prostate! (Now, of course, EVERYONE will want to use it!) :-)

When is expected release date of Beta Version 1.99.18 BETA - with PACS client feature?

Great Job. I really enjoy using this DICOM viewer.

Thank you, Richard. We should have a final release with PACS client feature ready before the end of this year.

Radiant is linking up with GE PACS, I can see the worklist and even querry a single study with patient ID.

However, when I click download, images seem to be getting downloaded but the images are not displayed on the RadiAnt viewer !

Any advise is appreciated

For the download feature to work properly you have to make sure that:

1) the PACS server is configured with RadiAnt PC's IP address, port (default: 11112) and AE title (default: RADIANT)
2) the incoming traffic on RadiAnt PC's port (11112) is not blocked by any firewall or NAT

You can install this tool: http://www.wireshark.org/download.html to monitor the TCP traffic and see whether the transfer from a PACS server is actually started.

Hi. Does the pacs version have a C-GET download feature ?
Jun 23, 2014 10:06 AM
by RadiAnt
Hi Mário,

No, currently only C-MOVE is supported for transfers.

I have 49 days left on the beta version. How can I renew it, if the official version is not out by then?
Jul 6, 2014 06:24 PM
by RadiAnt
When the beta validity period approaches end, we will extend it in another beta version.
You will just have to download a new setup file.

Nice job with PACS client.
PACS server is RamSoft. Is there any way to make more than one Radiant client to work with the same server? I mean I can make it work if I give separate entries and IP addresses for every client on server. Could it be made with only one entry on server like giving wildcards or whole network address?

Sep 10, 2014 09:50 PM
by RadiAnt
Thanks, msurg.
All PACS servers that we dealt with require that you specify each client's AE title, IP and port. Although it is certainly feasible and probably there is a PACS server software that allows to configure a group of clients with a common port and AE title...

Works like a charm. Tested under Windows 7 and openSuse Linux (using Wine).

Nice to have: add a button to test the PACS connection (echo) in the PACS configuration screen.
Sep 22, 2014 05:56 AM
by RadiAnt
Yes, the Echo feature would definitely help with setting up the new connections and troubleshooting them.

I noticed that the speed when downloading images in the network is very slow (1-2 Mbits, 100 Mbits network lan) than the rate in local (20-30 Mbits): you gave me confirm this?
Oct 7, 2014 07:11 AM
by RadiAnt
This is most probably some kind of problem with your network, or the pacs server. In our tests RadiAnt easily saturates 1000Mb/s network. While testing locally the transfer is limited only by the SSD speed.
Oct 8, 2014 07:52 AM
by Mat
I checked the transmission of other network lan, the problems mentioned in the previous post were not present.
Tested the program with a connection to a workstation and tac GE, everything was perfect.
I also found an oddity in the research, with conquest while the number of total images were displayed on the GE examination were not present.
Congratulations for the work done.

just tested RadiAnt beta with my new PACS "ClearCanvas ImageServer 3.0 Alpha [3.0.14232.42161]"

RadiAnt is perfect for query and retrieve.

thumbs up!!!
Oct 11, 2014 10:17 AM
by RadiAnt
Mat, thank you! As for the GE, their PACS nodes that we worked with don't provide the number of images in the study. If RadiAnt doesn't get them, it can't show them...

Tommy, I'm happy to see that you finally got RadiAnt with PACS to work for you! :-)

Oct 14, 2014 05:41 AM
by Tommy
yes, it's fantastic. when multiple instance will be allowed in the PACS version like in regular RadiAnt versions it will be perfect
Oct 15, 2014 11:01 AM
by RadiAnt
Actually there will be only one instance of RadiAnt with multiple viewer windows allowed. Additionally, you will get synchronization features between those windows.

I tried to setup PACS client, I am able to retrieve the list of recent studies, however, the images do not download. The usually use MedDream software for work. Could the PACS server have limitations on IPs?

Jonas,

Hi,

we need Wado configuration to download the exams that are listed. How can we do it?

Thank you.

RadiAnt does not support WADO yet.

multiple viewer windows allowed... when?

I really miss that feature from standard RadiAnt version...
will it be implemented soon in the PACS version?
Nov 11, 2014 10:01 PM
by RadiAnt
Things were not going very fast lately (at least this is how it looks from the outside) but starting from the next month we're going back to the usual rate of fresh releases of RadiAnt. Multiple windows will make to the next release and will hopefully move RadiAnt PACS client out of the beta phase.
We have two nice features that will be demoed before the end of this year and fully implemented in the coming months.

Hi Marco,

Thanks for appreciating our work. Please see this video showing how to handle PACS downloads: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eUsR13kon0
And if you meant downloading from PACS via command line, it's not yet available.

Greetings,
Maciej

Been testing for a few months now and its the fastest program I have used. No problem pulling cases from dcm4chee or ONIS. My suggestions are:

1. Allow cget to pull images (or ideally a WADO option) so that we can view from behind a NAT or DHCP server. Right now we have to use OSIRIX to do this. It would really make the system portable and eliminate the need for a separate web viewer.
2. Allow option to display n x n images at once from the SAME series and scroll 4 at at time etc. This makes viewing ultrasounds much easier.

Thanks.
Dec 23, 2014 06:26 PM
by RadiAnt
Hi Tom,

Thanks for your suggestions. C-GET protocol support will probably come first, before the WADO.
As for the #2, this feature was omitted because a single image display mode fits most use cases. However, you're right, it would be helpful for ultrasound images. We will consider the time frame for this functionality.

Kind regards,
Maciej

I have a question
When downloading dicom files from pacs server, where is their location? i can't seem to find them!
Jan 4, 2015 09:25 PM
by RadiAnt
The dicom files downloaded from a PACS server are placed in a temporary folder that is deleted upon the closing of RadiAnt application.

How to view RadiAnt on my system

Feb 4, 2016 04:47 PM
by RadiAnt
Well, first of all you have to download & install it: http://www.radiantviewer.com/startdownload.php?src=mbst&f=setup
Also, have a look at our manual: http://www.radiantviewer.com/dicom-viewer-manual/
Feel free to ask if you have any specific questions.

hello,
I made the settings to my radiant viewer as you said: the port is 11112; the AE title is RADIANT, I made the settings of my PACS, and did an exeption on windows firewall, but still when I start the search engine I get the list of the patients, but cannot download any of them, cuz it spills out 'error'. Can you please help me?
Aug 9, 2016 09:49 AM
by MRI
WHY RADIANT DOESNT RECOGNISE CONTRAS ON IMAGES?
Aug 11, 2016 04:23 PM
by RadiAnt
@Dian Mitev

Please check this page: http://www.radiantviewer.com/dicom-viewer-manual/pacs-troubleshooting.htm

@MRI

What do you mean by "not recognising contrast(?)"?
Aug 12, 2016 02:24 PM
by MRI
IT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL IF IT COULD SHOW ATLEAST LETTER C ON IMAGES WITH CONTRAST!

Aug 22, 2016 06:13 PM
by RadiAnt
You can add your own annotations by editing the overlay.xml file:
http://www.radiantviewer.com/dicom-viewer-manual/overlay_xml.htm

For contrast information, you can add the 0018,0010 tag (contrast/bolus agent):

<i r="10"><e k="1" i="00180010"/></i>

Add the above between <tr> </tr>:

<tr>
<i r="0" a="1" s="4"/>
<i r="1" a="1"><e k="1" i="00100020"/></i>
<i r="2" s="5"/>
<i r="3"><e k="1" i="00080080"/></i>
<i r="4"><e k="1" i="00200010"/></i>
<i r="5"><e k="1" i="00081030"/></i>
<i r="6"><e k="1" i="0008103E"/></i>
<i r="7"><e k="1" i="00204000"/></i>
<i r="8"><e k="1" i="00324000"/></i>
<i r="9" s="6" c="1"/>
<i r="10"><e k="1" i="00180010"/></i>
</tr>

Thank you very much for this feature!

But I got one trouble with it.
I tested DICOM connection on computer with two different local PACS installed. Connection test is successfull to both and I can get examination list from both. But the first stops image retrieving with error "PACS has to be configures with you IP, port and AE so that it knows to send the images" (wich are really different) while the second PACS works fine.

Please tell, What I`m doing wrong?

Best regards and thank you again.
